WHO ARE WE

Prezdential is a social enterprise that is dedicated to bridging the

gap faced by disadvantaged youth based in Ottawa and going

global. We work with youths to help discover their voice, express,

and elevate their potential in positive ways.

Our Programs are tailored to the location and the needs of the

community. Our programs include life skills (cooking and coding),

understanding your rights tutorials, financial literacy prep for

youth, entrepreneurship, and free drop in basketball nights.

At Prezdential we focus on building safe spaces that allow

Black Indigenous People of Colour youth to flourish and be confident within themselves.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

I am a refugee from South Sudan who is now the CEO of

Prezdential Basketball. I am also the head coach of the La Cité

Coyotes

.

After watching many of my friends, as well as myself, fall into

unsafe spaces where the only choices available are self-

destructive, I have made it my personal mission to create an

environment for youths to grow and amplify their skills and talent

within a safe space.

OUR OBJECTIVE

To demonstrate the power of transformation through the game of basketball

OUR TRAINING STYLE & METHODS

We begin by laying our foundation. Focusing on the athlete’s connective joints. These include ankles, knees, hips and shoulders.

By providing more fluidity in these areas our athletes will experience top performance through full range of motion and will also help prevent injuries while moving in their natural patterns.

Once we finish building our foundation we aim to develop the athlete’s skills. Ball-handling, one and two balls, shooting both form and range, rebounding, footwork and defense. The athlete will be constantly challenged with new drills never allowing the body to adapt but also improving at a pace they can manage.

Phase three -The aim is to simulate as much as possible game-like situations. Our goal is to get our athletes comfortable being uncomfortable. During phase three we will provide an opportunity for our participants to incorporate the knowledge gained during our sessions.

Our coaching style is to first identify what type of child we are dealing with. Some children will need more emotional support than others. Some will need to be given confidence to diminish the thoughts of fear. Once you have identified what the athlete is needing we can then tailor simulations that will allow the child to unconsciously deal with the barriers that may have been created through trauma.

We seek to create a space where basketball can therapeutically improve your weaknesses on the court and in the game of life.
